Men’s, Women’s Basketball Continues on a Big Roll

BRYN MAWR, PA (January 5, 2007) – The Harcum College men’s and women’s basketball teams enter the thick of their 2006 – 2007 seasons sitting at or near the top of their respective Regions.

The "Lady Bears" are now 10 – 1 after their 87 – 69 at home victory over visiting Salem County College last night. They now enter a string of home games, beginning with a January 9 contest against Mercer County Community College.

The men’s team emerged victorious from a Holiday Tournament at host Cecil (MD) County Community College in North East, MD. The Bears defeated two teams in that tournament that are consistently ranked at or near the top of the nationwide polls by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

On December 22 the men defeated Number 4 ranked Cecil County Community College, 95 – 82. The next day they downed Monroe Community College (Rochester, NY), the number 3 team in the nation, by a score of 87 – 70. Freshman Jamal Jackson (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg High School) scored 20 points in the win.

The men’s team continued winning last night, taking the opener of the men’s/women’s doubleheader against visiting Salem County College by a score of 125 – 73, giving them a record of 15 – 1 on the season. The game marked the men’s 13th consecutive victory and was the first time in the men’s program’s two-year history that the team scored 125 points in a game.
