Harcum Places Athletes on NJCAA Men's and Women's All American Hoops Squads
BRYN MAWR, PA (November 9, 2006) - Two athletes from the men's and women's basketball programs at Harcum College have been named to preseason "All American" teams by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
Guard Ryan Bogan (Oxford, PA/Oxford High) a second-year player on the Harcum men's basketball team, was named as a First Team All American by the NJCAA. Also, Forward chantal Hardy (Philadelphia/Cardinal Dougherty), a second-year layer on the women's team, was named a Second Team All American.
Harcum, a two-year co-educational college in Bryn Mawr, PA, competes in Division II, Region XIX of the NJCAA.
This is the second such honor for Bogan, who was named to the All-Region XIX team by the NJCAA at the conclusion of the 2005 - 2006 men's basketball season.
The six-foot-two-inch Bogan last season averaged 19.7 points per game, 6.9 rebounds per game, and led the team in both assists (137) and steals (79). Bogan led the Region with 74 three-point field goals while shooting 39 percent from three point range. He recently made a verbal commitment to play for Longwood University in Farmville, VA, an emerging NCAA Division I program, for the 2007 - 2008 season.
Hardy, at five-feet, seven-inches, averaged 17.7 points per game last year, and contributed with 5.3 rebounds per contest. She shot 47 percent from the field, and 36 percent from three-point range. She was a key member of a women's squad that went 26 - 5 and won the Region XIX Championship during the 2005 - 2006 season. |
