BRYN MAWR (April 27, 2007) - Chantal Hardy (Philadelphia/Cardinal Dougherty High School), a second-year forward on Harcum's "Lady Bears" women's basketball team, recently signed with Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, PA, an NCAA Division II school. Hardy will join Tammy Milsaps' team, which went 7 - 20 during the 2006 - 2007 season.
Harcum, a two-year, co-educational college, competes in Division II, Region XIX of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). In the 2006 - 2007 season, Hardy averaged 11.2 points per game, and 4.3 rebounds per game. She was part of a squad that went 25 - 4 on the regular season, finnishing as the runner-up for the Region XIX Championship. Amazingly, the "Lady Bears" never lost a home game while playing at their home court, Klein Hall.
"At Harcum, an athlete is given the opportunity to come and play for a two-year school," said Drew Kelly, Director of Athletics at Harcum College. "Before attending a four-year institution, they are able to improve both their athletic and academic performances. Chantal is further proof of that success story we continue to write here at Harcum." Since re-instituting women's intercollegiate basketball in 2004, Harcum has sent six players to prestigious NCAA four-year institutions.
