BRYN MAWR, PA (August 31, 2006) - Austin Okosun, a six-foot, eleven-inch center, will play men's basketball for Harcum College's men's team, beginning this fall. The 240-pound Okosun has already made a verbal commitment to play for Seton Hall University, an NCAA Division I "Big East" school, once his playing days at Harcum are finished.
Okosun is originally from Nigeria, and is relatively new to playing collegiate basketball. He averaged 2.4 points and 2.7 rebounds per game while playing basketball for Georgetown College - a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics school in Kentucky.
"We're very impressed with Austin's athleticism, commitment to the game of basketball, and willingness to be a part of our program," said Drew Kelly, Harcum's Athletic Director and Men's Basketball Coach. "His skills are still a bit raw, but he has an incredible vertical leap and has been heavily scouted by many NCAA Division I schools."
This fall Harcum College will enter its second full year of men's intercollegiate basketball. The 2005 - 2006 men's team was the first in the College's history, and posted an impressive 21 - 10 won/loss record. Harcum competes in Division II, Region XIX of the National Junior College Athletic Association.
