Center for Allied Health Sciences

Overview

Many opportunities exist in hospitals, research facilities, and private doctor's offices for individuals who want to become members of the Allied Health Professional Team. This encompasses nurses, clinical laboratory technologists, occupational and physical therapists, phlebotomists, histology technicians, radiologic technicians, and more. Harcum's Allied Health Science curriculum contains three tracks to meet the needs of individuals pursuing an Allied Health career.

  • Students can enter the two-year program at Harcum to prepare for transfer to a four-year institution where they will complete the final two years of a bachelor degree program. An Associate of Science degree will be granted upon successful completion of the two-year Allied Health Science program.
  • Students can also pursue the two-year Allied Health Science career track that includes a practicum in the final semester to give valuable on-the-job training. Students graduate with an Associate degree in Allied Health Science along with valuable work experience to offer future employers.
  • A third option in the Allied Health Science program is designed for students who require prerequisite coursework prior to official acceptance into the professional health science program of their choice at Harcum College.

Each of the above options can be pursued on a full-time or part-time basis.

In addition to an Associate degree in Allied Health Science, students can take additional credits to earn a certificate in holistic studies, many of which can be incorporated into the Allied Health Science curriculum. Holistic Studies courses include:

  • Foundation Principles of Holistic Practice
  • Applied Holistic Studies I
  • Applied Holistic Studies II
  • Holistic Self-Awareness and Legal/Ethical Issues in Holistic Practice
