Overview
The Interior Design Program is dedicated to preparing students from diverse backgrounds to pursue a professional career in the field of commercial or residential interior design by offering two optional career paths:
- After the associate's degree, students may enter the field of interior design. After four years of experience in the field, they may take the NCIDQ Exam for professional certification and advance professionally to become a licensed designer.
- Students wishing to pursue a career in Interior Design may acquire foundational skills in design and enter the job market with an Associates Degree or may fulfill core course requirements before transferring to a four-year design program.
- Interior Designers plan and design in residential, commercial, retail, and leisure environments. Salaries vary, and usually depend on the ability and experience of the individual, but interior designers can earn between $25,000 and $75,000 per year.
- Interior design is a competitive field and it is recommended that those interested obtain at least an associate's degree in Interior Design or a related field.
The curriculum is taught in studios and classrooms lectures using individualized instruction and a wide range of teaching methodologies.
The program's mission is to prepare qualified students to become effective interior designers for both private or public clients. They will endeavor to honor the Professional Code of Ethics and Standards of Health Safety and Welfare as well as State Regulations.
