Harcum Downs Mercer, Improves to 15-1

Trenton, N.J. (January 13, 2008)--Sophomore guard Brandon Smalls connected on 5 three-point shots en route to 28 points as Harcum College downed host Mercer County College, 92-75, in an NJCAA Region 19 game Sunday afteroon.  The victory improves the Bears to 15-1 overall and 5-0 in Region 19 play, while Mercer drops to 9-7 overall and 4-2 in Region play.

Harcum used a 14-2 run to open the second half to pull away from a 39-34 halftime lead.  Freshman forward Greg Avila scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, while guard Micah Covert also netted 16 points, including 4 three's. 

Harcum will return home on Thursday evening when the Bears host Region 19 rival Salem Community College at Our Mother of Good Counsel Church (31 Pennswood Rd., Bryn Mawr, Pa.).  Tip-off is schedule for 8 p.m.
