HARCUM DEFEATS MORRIS IN KEY REGION XIX GAME
Bryn Mawr, Pa. (October 15, 2011)--In their final Region XIX game of the season, the Harcum women's soccer team got a much needed 3-2 victory over visiting County College of Morris Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Lady Bears to 9-5 on the season and 4-3 in Region XIX play, as Harcum battles for seeding position for the Region XIX Tournament.
Harcum led 2-0 at the half behind a pair of goals from Natasha Douglas. But Morris was able to strike back quickly with 2 goals less a minute apart in the second half and tie the game at two. But Luteshia Shelton was able to break the tie with a breakaway goal with 15 minutes remaining, and the Lady Bears held on for the win.
Harcum has just one regular season game remaining, Wednesday at Trinity College in Washington, DC. The Lady Bears finished 4-3 in Region XIX games and currently are in a 3-way tie for third place. Harcum could be seeded anywhere from third to sixth in next week's Region XIX Tournament, depending on the outcome of other region games this week. The Region XIX Tournament is schedule to begin next Saturday, October 22nd.
LADY BEARS START SEASON WITH 3-1 WIN OVER CSM
Media, Pa. (August 30, 2011)--The Harcum Lady Bears soccer team started the 2011 season with a 3-1 victory over visiting College of Southern Maryland Tuesday afternoon in a game played at the Williamson Trade School. The Lady Bears scored the first three goals of the game, the first by sophomore Luteisha Shelton, and then two goals by sophomore Natasha Douglas. The Lady Bears also got spectacular goaltending from sophomore Shashagay Spence, who stopped a key penalty shot midway through the 2nd half that kept Harcum ahead by two goals.
