Sheila DiNardo Named Women’s Basketball Coach
Bryn Mawr, Pa. (May 20, 2009)—Sheila DiNardo has been named the new head coach of women’s basketball at Harcum College. DiNardo, a native of Wilmington, Delaware, inherits a Harcum team that went 12-18 in 2008-09, the Bears first losing season since restarting women’s basketball in 2004-05. “We are excited to welcome Coach DiNardo to Harcum,” stated Harcum Athletic Director Drew Kelly. “Coach DiNardo has great enthusiasm for the game and will be a great asset for our student-athletes. We are very confident that she will quickly return our women's basketball program to the top of Region 19.” DiNardo has 15 years of head coaching experience at both the college and high school level. She most recently served as head coach at Archmere Academy, compiling a 40-29 record in three seasons, and twice qualifying for the Delaware state tournament. Prior to Archmere, DiNardo spent two seasons as head coach at Ursuline Academy, posting a 46-6 overall record and capturing back-to-back Delaware state titles. DiNardo also spent four seasons as head coach at the Stanford School, compiling an 84-30 record, winning four straight conference titles, and advancing as far as the state semifinals in 2003. She was selected as the Delaware state coach of the year in 2002. In nine seasons as a high school coach, DiNardo has an overall record of 170-65, capturing two Delaware state championships. DiNardo is no stranger to the college ranks, having served as head coach at her alma mater, Wilmington College, for six seasons from 1993-1999. She was also an accomplished player, leading Wilmington to the NAIA Northeast Region championship in 1992.
