As a graduate of our Day or Evening Nursing Degree Program, you will be prepared to provide safe, effective, nursing care to people of diverse cultures across the lifespan in a variety of health care settings and equipped to sit for your licensing exam to become a Registered Nurse (RN).

WHY STUDY THIS PROGRAM?
The Nursing faculty work closely with students, mentoring them for growth and professional success. The ACEN reaccredited our program for the next 8 years, which affirms the strength of the curriculum and the quality of instruction you will receive.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Our nursing curriculum will provide you with experiences in meeting human needs holistically across the health-illness continuum. Your program of study includes general education studies, nursing studies, and supervised clinical experiences in varied healthcare settings.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES
  • Evaluate nursing care provided to patients, families, and groups across the lifespan from diverse backgrounds in a variety of settings to ensure that it is compassionate, age and culturally appropriate, and based on a patient’s values and needs.
  • Collaborate as a member of the inter-professional health care team to manage and coordinate the provision of safe, quality care for patients, families, and groups.
  • Demonstrate use of best current evidence and clinical expertise when making clinical decisions in the provision of patient-centered care.
  • Participate in the use of evidence-based quality improvement processes in the delivery of patient-centered care.
  • Demonstrate effective use of strategies to mitigate errors and reduce the risk of harm to patients, self, and others in a variety of settings.
  • Critique information and patient care technology to communicate relevant patient information, manage care, mitigate error, and support decision-making.
  • Integrate integrity and accountability into practices that uphold established regulatory, legal, and ethical principles while providing patient-centered standard-based nursing care.
  • Appraise leadership, management, and priority setting skills in the provision and management of safe, quality, patient-centered care.
ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS
  • Completed Harcum College Application (free if you apply online)
  • Official high school transcripts or GED transcripts.
  • Official college transcripts from all regionally accredited colleges attended (if applicable)
  • Essay describing applicant’s reasons for choosing Nursing as a career
  • Two letters of recommendation on professional letterhead
  • Professional résumé
  • TEAS 7 Exam (Admissions will notify students when they need to complete this exam)
  • English Proficiency Requirement - Applicants born outside the United States must present an acceptable English proficiency test score or meet one of the exemptions before they are accepted into any degree program. *Nursing and OTA students are not eligible for the exemptions. Nursing and OTA students must submit an accepted score from the TOEFL, DET, or IELTS. More information can be found here.
  • Students applying to the Nursing Program must complete all of the following general education course requirements with a minimum grade of “C” or better. These prerequisite courses can be transferred from another regionally accredited institution and must be complete prior to acceptance into the Nursing Program.

List of Prerequisite Courses that are needed for nursing program:
Courses

  • All science and math courses must be completed within 10 years, or they expire and cannot be used to fulfill the prerequisite courses.
  • Documentation of a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 at the time of formal application to the program. A "C" or better in each course with a "B" in all science courses is preferred. NOTE: Students who have repeated a science course one or more times in order to obtain a passing or higher grade may not be accepted.

EVENING NURSING TRACK

Students who enroll in our Nursing Program can elect the Day or Evening track. The benefits of the evening track include:

  • Evening Program begins once a year in Spring (January)
  • 2 year, part time program (4 semesters)
  • Students will attend 3 times per week
  • Lectures/Labs during evening hours on weekdays
  • Clinicals will be on weekends
