Dan Hirschfeld is an accomplished entrepreneur as well as a masterful healthcare executive with a wealth of experience.

After receiving his BA in Accounting from Duke University, then MBA and Master of Finance from Loyola College of Maryland, Hirschfeld went on to the world of startups. Highlights of his early career include raising $40M to found his own company focused on assisted living (Hallmark Senior Communities), and co-founding and raising $300M for burgeoning payments company Bill Me Later. Hirschfeld successfully exited Bill Me Later when it sold to PayPal for $945M (the company became PayPal Credit). He also helped to take Integrated Living Communities public through an IPO.

Hirschfeld spent a total of 23 years as President of a number of divisions of Genesis Healthcare, including Genesis Rehab Services (GRS), the largest physical therapy organization in the US at the time, Genesis Physician Services (GPS), and other ancillary divisions. In addition to investing and raising millions in equity for the company’s start-up rehab business in China, Hirschfeld oversaw 25,000 employees that served over half a million patients per year in 1,700 locations, with a total revenue of $1.2B in his divisions. The company’s total revenue topped $6.5B.

During his tenure at Genesis, Hirschfeld focused on providing a premiere patient experience by utilizing technological innovations, essentially transforming the post-acute industry with an eye towards improving patient care and outcomes. He also oversaw the company’s expansion overseas; GRS now operates 15 locations in Hong Kong and mainland China in addition to those in the US. In 2007, Hirschfeld was part of the executive team that took Genesis Healthcare private with Formation Capital.

Hirschfeld went on to serve as CEO of Chronic Care Management (CCM), one of the largest companies providing full service and software services to over 26,000 patients living in independent living centers, assisted living facilities, and nursing homes. CCM uses evidence-based assessments for chronic care, behavioral health, remote patient monitoring which provides interventions resulting in reduced hospitalizations and falls as well as improved compliance, which leads to healthcare expenditure savings.

A renowned expert in the healthcare industry, Hirschfeld is also well respected across both the private and public sectors. He has acted as an industry representative to state, national, and international organizations, including speaking at the World Health Conference in Wuhan, China. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Harcum College, and previously on the Board of Directors for The National Association for the Support of Long Term Care (NASL), and Argentum — formerly the Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA).
