Smalls Signs Letter of Intent with S.C. State

Bryn Mawr, Pa.(April 16, 2008)--Harcum College sophomore guard Brandon Smalls has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for South Carolina State University next season.  Smalls is the fourth Harcum men's basketball player to sign a Division I NLI in the past two seasons, joining Ryan Bogan (Longwood), Augustine Okosun (Seton Hall) and Jamal Jackson (Morehead St.). 

This past season Smalls averaged 18.9 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 3.7 apg and led the team with 58 steals.  He also set a single-season school record by making 78 three point field goals.  He was an NJCAA Region 19 First-Team selection and helped the Bears to a 26-3 overall record.

 

Smalls, Young named to All-Region Team

Bryn Mawr, Pa. (February 28, 2008)--Harcum College sophomore guard Brandon Smalls (Charleston, S.C./North Charleston) and freshman forward Andrew Young (Elkins Park, Pa./Cheltenham) have both been named to the NJCAA All-Region 19 First-Team after their outstanding performances during the 2007-08 basketball season.  Smalls and Young helped Harcum to a 25-3 overall record, including a 13-1 record in Region 19 play.

Smalls, who has committed to NCAA Division I South Carolna State, led the Bears in scoring with over 19 points per game.  Smalls also led the Bears in steals and three point field goals made.  He dropped a career-high 37 points against Baltimore City CC on February 18th, just two shy of the school scoring record. 

Young was the only freshman to be named to the first-team.  He averaged nearly 15 points per game while leading the team in rebounding with nearly 9 boards per game.  The 6'7" forward also shot 58% from the field and 73% from foul line.  The complete team is listed below.
