2023 Women’s Basketball Season Recap (March 26, 2023) -- Harcum College Women’s Basketball had an impressive season, finishing with a record of 28-7. They were dominant both at home and on the road, with a 13-3 record at home and a 13-4 record on the road.
Offensively, the Bears were one of the top teams in the country, finishing 6th in total points scored with 2878 and 7th in points per game with 82.2. They were also efficient shooters, finishing 8th in the country with 31.1 field goals made per game.
Defensively, the Bears were equally as strong, finishing 7th in opponents' 3-point percentage at 22% and 9th in steals per game with 15.1. One of the standout stats of the season was the Bears' ability to score over 100 points in a game 9 times, with a perfect 9-0 record in those games. Their highest scoring game was a 133-28 victory over Salem Community College.
Ciara Bailey was a dominant force for the team, leading in scoring with an average of 12.7 points per game. She also showcased her defensive prowess by leading the team in blocks with an impressive average of 2.5 blocks per game, as well as in rebounding with an average of 7.6 rebounds per game. T’Nyah Riggins was a key playmaker for the team, leading in assists with an average of 3.7 assists per game. Her ability to distribute the ball and set up her teammates for scoring opportunities was crucial to the team's success. Camryn Graham was a defensive standout for the team, leading in steals with an average of 2.2 steals per game. Her ability to disrupt the opposing team's offense and create turnovers was invaluable in generating scoring opportunities for her team.
The Bears had a successful conference season, finishing with a 7-3 record and earning the 3rd seed in the NJCAA Region 19 Conference Tournament. They had a strong showing in the tournament, defeating Raritan Valley Community College in the semifinal game to advance to the Region 19 Championship game against Union College.
Although they fell short in the championship game, the Bears bounced back and won the NJCAA East District B Championship game against Sullivan County Community College, securing their spot in the NJCAA DII Women's Basketball Championship as the 10th seed.
In the national tournament, Harcum had a tough matchup in the second round against Morton College, resulting in a loss. However, they fought back in the 7th place quarterfinal game against Lake Land Community College, securing a victory and advancing to the 7th place semifinal game against Union College.
The Bears continued their strong performance, defeating Union College and advancing to the 7th Place Final game against Pima Community College. Although they ultimately fell short in that game, Harcum finished 8th in the NJCAA National Tournament, capping off a successful season for the team.
